Working in finance, I've had the opportunity to gain experience by working for both commercial banks and credit unions. While credit unions are often recognized for their stronger member relationships, their smaller size can sometimes result in resource limitations that may affect the overall user experience.

Overview

Users are expressing growing frustration with the limited resources available at credit unions in comparison to larger financial institutions. Additionally, they are encountering difficulties in locating shared branches when traveling outside their credit union's service area or zone. These challenges are prompting users to seek more comprehensive solutions to meet their banking needs.

The main goal of our product development is to make it easy for users to find shared branches. We want to offer a smooth and effective way for users to navigate and locate shared branches with ease.

Developing a user-friendly tool that will enable members to conveniently access information on shared branches. This tool will feature a comprehensive list of branches and the wide range of services they offer, ensuring that it is tailored to meet the unique needs of each member.

Design Process

During the initial phase of the case study, screener surveys were meticulously conducted to select participants who best aligned with the study's focus. A total of 60 participants were invited to partake in the screening process. From this pool, 22 individuals emerged with extensive experience in traditional credit union operations, thus making them prime candidates for further involvement in the study.


These particular participants were invited to engage in in-depth, one-on-one user interviews. This approach allowed for a comprehensive exploration of their insights and perspectives, contributing significantly to the richness of the case study findings.    

Participant Screening Process

User interviews

When conducting user interviews, a technique that proved effective was asking open-ended questions and actively listening to the interviewees' problems. This approach allowed for a deeper understanding of the users' perspectives and experiences. Through these interviews, (2) main pain points emerged as common concerns among the majority of participants.

User Persona

The feedback received from the interviews have been instrumental in gaining valuable insights into the specific requirements for enhancing the user experience with our product. This input will serve as a compass, guiding the development of a new offering that closely aligns with user needs and expectations.

Additionally, this feedback has enabled me to create a detailed user persona, further refining my understanding of the target audience.

Flow Charts for User Interaction Process

Flow charts planned user interactions for each system feature, outlining paths, decisions, and steps for seamless user navigation. Charts mapped feature 1's journey from entry to interaction with defined steps. Feature 2 had its tailored interactions detailed. Flow charts considered all scenarios upfront, aiding structured user interaction design, development streamlining, and user-friendly experiences.

Mange Accounts

This feature streamlines managing multiple credit union accounts in one user-friendly app, allowing convenient access and monitoring.

It enables seamless transfers between linked accounts and offers quick share for rapid and secure transfers via QR code scanning. This represents a significant advancement in credit union account management and fund transfers, enhancing user convenience.

Active Cards

This feature delivers the convenience of centrally managing your credit cards across multiple branches, streamlining your financial oversight. Easily monitor and control your credit card accounts from one platform, irrespective of the branch location. Simplify your financial management with this seamless solution.
